Kathryn (aka Izzy) and Roland went to Reed College together from 2010-2012 and remained very close friends for years and years, keeping in touch as they had other relationships, changed jobs, and moved all over the country and the world.

For two years starting at the end of 2021, they maintained a very glamorous international long-distance relationship, traveling to see each other every 3 months, spending birthdays and holidays together and seeing family between California, Berlin, London, and New York, with occasional trips to Paris and Las Vegas.

Roland proposed in the summer of 2024, and they moved in together by the end of that year.

They registered as domestic partners in February 2025, haven't murdered each other yet, and now it's time for The Big Spooky Wedding.
